Now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel.  2 Kings 5:15

I love the story of the Army Commander, Naaman, who had leprosy.  He heard about the Prophet Elisha, from a slave girl and told his king about what she had said that he could be cured.  Following proper channels his king sent a request to the king of Israel, who was freaked out knowing he could no more cure leprosy than fly.  Thankfully, Elisha heard about this and offered to take on the leper and cure him with God’s help.

All too often each of us expects someone on earth to do what ONLY God can do.  When there is NO hope, then we pray.  When all the man made vehicles fail, then we bring God into the picture.  I wonder what the world would be like if we started there instead of only going to our Creator and Lord when all other possibilities are exhausted.  Naaman, realized that the God in Israel was the one TRUE God.  How blessed he was to be healed but even greater was possessing the knowledge that there is a GOD and he knew it at the core of his being.

That confidence and faith is all that any of us need to be delivered.  That ability to let go of our preconceived notions and let God be God is the best gift any of us can ever be given.  To know that there is a GOD and that HE knows me and loves me… whew!  All I can say is that is better than a total healing.  Better than freedom from a dreaded disease.

Lord, Help me realize that all the gold, the cars, the houses and the health in the world cannot replace the knowledge that You are GOD.  Help me live my life dedicated to that fact.
