Tuesday February 7, 2017 Brokenhearted

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.  Psalm 34:18

I am currently surrounded with people who are going through very rough times.  I have several friends who are hurting in broken marriages; many more who are dealing with broken bodies: suffering with cancer, heart disease, broken bones and pneumonia but the most difficult one to cure is the broken heart!  Despair kills the spirit and prevents God from being able to work miracles.  Jesus could not perform any saving acts when faith was lacking.  He told people that repeatedly throughout the Gospels.

I am praying for Jesus to intervene and cure the brokenhearted friends and family who are supporting a dad with Pancreatic Cancer, a husband who is dying with heart disease and a child who has a massive tumor.  Each of the patients have the faith that can move mountains but those who are care giving and standing alongside are crushed.  I pray they will feel the Lord standing beside them holding them up through this terrible time.  God can rescue them and His will be done in their lives.

Nothing is harder than loving and being with someone who is so terribly sick.  There is so much helplessness and fury rolled into one.  Frustration that the situation cannot be FIXED leads to anger because the road seems to dead-end at every turn… Only when placing the one who is sick into God’s mighty hands can any peace be achieved.

Today, Lord come close to the brokenhearted and lift their spirits.  Give consolation and hope to all who need the reassurance that You are there.  Help me to say a word that will inspire them to trust in You all the days of their life.
