Tuesday November 8, 2016 Reap

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.   So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the household of the faith.  Galatians 6:9-10

I have learned in life that I will reap what I sow.  Today is Election Day and throughout the U.S. politicians will receive votes based on the information they have sown, the money they have spent and the effort they made to convert agnostics into believers in them and their platform.  During His ministry, Jesus did much the same thing that many of these politicians have done.  He stumped in His territory making speeches and telling His story.  He converted many from the opponents party and they voted on Palm Sunday that He should be KING!

The rest as they say is history.  Jesus could not reap what He had sown because the powers that be had fixed the contest.  They were not going to relinquish their control so they killed Jesus through the Romans cruel and inhumane systems of the day… scourging and crucifixion.

I pray today for all who have voted and for those who are doing so today.  May their eyes be open and that they will see clearly through the rhetoric and vote for those who will do good to ALL the people.  I pray for the politicians so that God will fill their hearts and make them humble servants so that they will indeed have the people in mind instead of their own self interests.

I know that God is sovereign over all of this.  I believe He is in charge no matter who is elected and He will make good out of every situation.  He knows who will win today and has known since the dawn of time.  That gives me hope.  For we make mistakes BUT God does not.  In the end, our country will survive this and become stronger by learning that every vote matters.  Apathy allows the unfit to be put into positions of power.  Every person must educate themselves and stand up for their beliefs… NOT one day every four years but each day.  It is crucial that I recognize good people and encourage them to lead.  Only then will our country truly be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Lord, bless our nation.  Be a light to our leaders and help our people realize that unless TRUTH and JUSTICE is sown, destruction will be the harvest that we reap.  Bring forth strong people who can and will lead our nation in the years to come.
