Sunday June 5, 2016 ATTENTION!

Amen, Amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.  John 16:20

Whenever Jesus is going to share something VERY important, He says AMEN, AMEN.  Pay attention, this is worth remembering!  Like a teacher who tells her students “This might be on the test”, pay attention!  He never promised His followers an easy time of it.  He prepared them for persecution, grieving all while the world was happily laughing.  It is no different today.  It is hard to remain true to Jesus laws of love in a world filled with posers and hatred.  Separating the sheep from the goats is pretty easy when you ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?”

I ask myself often if I am paying attention to the RIGHT stuff.  Peter wrote, Don’t be concerned about outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes.  You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.  1 Peter 3:3-5  Do I keep my attention on being and doing what would delight my Father and give honor to my Brother, Jesus.  Today as I prepare for church, I put on a dress and think do I put on Jesus as well?  Have I got the mind of Christ, filled with Love for those I go to serve.

Lord, Help me always pay ATTENTION to what is important!  Help me make each moment about YOU and those You put into my life.  When I am weeping, help me to recall that others too are suffering and not make it about me.  I know my grief, will become JOY when I trust in You!
