The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives… Patience. Galatians 5:22
Monday mornings tend to bring out the grumbles and the snooze button for many. How can the weekend be over so soon!!! How can it be time to swing back into action?
My mom used to say, “Never pray for Patience…you won’t like the way God delivers.” Patience seems only to be acquired by being patient. When you sit up with a baby at 2 AM or wait in a room while surgery is being performed or spend an hour in traffic… sometimes I make lots of accusations, use lots of swear words or a realization comes that I am not in charge. Holy Spirit being present in my mind and heart gives me the ability to be patient. No other way, it is not a trait that is in one’s personality it is a gift with grace. The closer I am to God the more patient, I become. If I strive to be a patient person, what I really need to do is ask the Holy Spirit to fill my life. He is the guardian of patience. No amount of will can change my patience quotient.
It is a gift of grace.
Lord, Thanks for the gift of patience and the love that I feel when I can accept the situations in my life over which I do not have control. Help me today to reflect your grace to others.
